How same-day interstate works

Three stages: a local driver collects the parcel at your pickup address and runs it to the pickup-city airport. It boards the next available passenger or freight flight. A second local driver at the destination airport collects on arrival and delivers to the drop-off address.

Everything happens inside one booking. You see one tracking link, one price, one driver SMS per leg. We don't hand off to a separate provider — both legs run through the Same Day Express network.

What to send same-day interstate

  • Contracts, legal documents, board papers
  • Urgent samples for client meetings tomorrow morning
  • Spare parts for downtime-critical equipment
  • Medical specimens (non-temperature-controlled)
  • B2B inventory in 24-hour-cycle replenishment

What can't fly same-day

  • Aerosols (dangerous goods)
  • Lithium batteries over the airline cutoff (most laptops are fine; loose batteries aren't)
  • Anything requiring temperature control or pressurisation
  • Items over 30kg per piece or 200 × 50 × 50cm
  • Live animals, weapons, prescription drugs

If your route isn't same-day

Perth, Hobart, Darwin and most regional addresses don't support same-day interstate — the flights don't connect in time. Those routes move overnight (NBD) instead. Get a quote and the system will tell you which window your route fits.

FAQ

Common questions

Which interstate routes are covered same-day?
Sydney↔Melbourne, Sydney↔Brisbane, Brisbane↔Gold Coast, Sydney↔Canberra, Melbourne↔Adelaide and Melbourne↔Canberra. Other routes move overnight via air freight or next-business-day.
How does same-day interstate actually work?
We hand the parcel to a partner air freight network at the pickup-city airport. It flies on the next available passenger or freight service. A local driver collects it at the destination airport and runs it the last mile.
What's the latest I can book?
Cutoff varies by route — Sydney→Melbourne is 11am AEST, Brisbane→Gold Coast is 4pm. The booking flow shows the live cutoff for your selected pickup city.
What can't go same-day interstate?
Lithium batteries over a certain size, aerosols, perishables that need temperature control, anything dangerous-goods classified, and items over 30kg per piece (volume-weight rules apply).
How is it priced?
Weight, dimensions, route. Most under-5kg interstate parcels land between $90 and $180. Get an instant quote — no signup needed.
What about Perth, Hobart, Darwin?
Perth, Hobart, Darwin and most of WA/TAS/NT are next-business-day, not same-day. The flight schedules don't support a same-day round-trip from the east coast.
