Frequently asked

How fast is same-day delivery?
Most metro deliveries land within 1-4 hours of pickup. Book a 3-hour or on-demand slot for anything more urgent. See the speed options.
Do I need an account to book?
No. One-off bookings work without signup. Pay by card, get SMS tracking, done.
Which cities do you cover?
Every Australian capital — Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Gold Coast, Hobart, Darwin — plus Wollongong, Launceston and Alice Springs. Coverage is strongest in the eastern capitals.
How is pricing calculated?
Three inputs: distance from pickup to drop-off, vehicle size needed, and speed (same-day, 3-hour, or on-demand). Get an instant quote.
What can I send?
Documents, parcels, B2B inventory, wine, flowers, small furniture, electronics. Vehicles up to van size are available.
What can't I send?
Hazardous goods (dangerous goods classifications 1-9), cash, gold, declared values over $5,000 (with default insurance), live animals, weapons, prescription drugs (without proper authorisation), anything temperature-controlled, items over 100kg per piece.
How is the driver dispatched?
When you confirm and pay, our platform offers the job to the closest available driver who can handle your vehicle size. Once they accept, they're on the way and you see them on a live map.
Can I track the driver?
Yes — a tracking link is texted to you when the booking confirms. You see live driver location from dispatch to drop-off, plus SMS at pickup and at delivery.
How do I prove delivery?
A signature or a photo (you choose at booking). Both are emailed automatically with the receipt.
What's the insurance cover?
$5,000 declared value is included free. You can top up at checkout for higher-value items.
What if the driver is late?
Same-day deliveries that miss the close-of-business window get a partial refund. 3-hour deliveries over the 3-hour window get an automatic 20% refund. Email support@samedayexpress.com.au with the booking ID.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel before the driver picks up the parcel for a full refund. After pickup, cancel and we deliver back to pickup address — you pay the original fare.
Can I get an invoice for business?
Yes. Create a business account for invoiced billing, GST receipts, saved addresses and team members.
Are drivers employees?
No. Drivers are independent contractors using the Same Day Express platform. They're vetted (ID check, driver-history check, insurance verified) and tracked on platform performance metrics.
What about COVID, masks, contactless drop-off?
Contactless drop-off is the default — you tell us where to leave the parcel and the driver takes a photo. If you need contact (e.g., signature on a legal document), tick the box at booking.
I have a complaint. Where do I send it?
Email support@samedayexpress.com.au with the booking ID. Replies within 1 business hour during Mon-Fri 8am-6pm AEST.
